I studied painting at UCLA as part of my undergraduate degree. Since then, I have continued to learn, taking short courses in portraiture and traditional painting techniques in the ateliers and academies in Florence. 

Portraiture

I started my portrait career painting animals and when I started to train in classical portraiture, have started to paint people. But for both animals and people, the approach is the same. It is imperative that the personality and what makes the sitter unique, both come through in the painting. To achieve this, I use the techniques and devices from traditional portraiture of the 1800’s to capture the personality and spirit of the person or animal.
